ISIS Embraces "Stabbing Intifada"

In its latest message to would-be jihadis, ISIS is embracing the so-called "stabbing intifada" that Palestinian extremists have been waging against Israelis for the past year. The group pointed to Dahir Adan, the Somali immigrant who attacked 10 people at a Minnesota mall, as an example for others to follow.

Consider some of these excerpts:

"One need not be a military expert or a martial arts master, or even own a gun or rifle in order to carry out a massacre or to kill and injure several disbelievers and terrorize an entire nation. . . Many people are often squeamish of the thought of plunging a sharp object into another person's flesh. It is a discomfort caused by the untamed, inherent dislike for pain and death, especially after 'modernization' distanced males from partaking in the slaughtering of livestock for food and the striking of the enemy in war. However, any such squirms and discomforts are never an excuse for abandoning jihad."

ISIS also offered some "helpful hints" such as "not to use kitchen knives, as their basic structure is not designed to handle the kind of vigorous application used for assassinations and slaughter." Jihadis were discouraged from attempting beheadings because "the absence of technique can cause a person to spend a long time attempting to do so." In other words, don't waste time killing just one person. Kill as many as possible.

Jihadis were urged to "target smaller crowds or someone walking home . . . or someone walking alone in a public park . . . by himself in an alley close to a night club . . . One should consider canals, riversides, and beaches."

And ISIS was clear to inform the adherents of radical Islam to make sure that their "handiwork" wasn't confused with random violence. Jihadis were instructed "to leave some kind of evidence or insignia identifying the motive and allegiance to the Khalifah" or leader of the Islamic State. In other words, the Islamic supremacists want it known that their faith inspired their murderous acts.

After 9/11, Osama bin Laden bragged, "We love death. The U.S. loves life. That is the big difference between us." Indeed it is. Western Civilization, formed by Judeo-Christian values, is fighting barbarians who worship death. We should not be squeamish about defending our values.

The Islamists will kill as many "infidels" -- Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists and even other Muslims deemed insufficiently Islamic -- as they can by any means they can, whether it's the sword, AK-47s, passenger jets, knives or weapons of mass destruction.

The West must muster the courage to confront and defeat this evil.

Clueless Elites

Hollywood superstar Leonardo DiCaprio was at the White House earlier this week. With President Obama at his side, DiCaprio declared:

"The scientific consensus is in and the argument is now over. If you do not believe in climate change, you do not believe in facts or in science or empirical truths and, therefore, in my humble opinion, should not be allowed to hold public office."

The crowd applauded and cheered wildly.

I'm really not sure why. I don't know anyone who denies climate change. We know the climate changes. The climate on Mars changes too, but I doubt SUVs are responsible for that.

With all due respect to that intellectual genius, Mr. DiCaprio, a lot of people do have questions about global warming. And what they really don't believe is that the left has all the answers, meaning higher taxes and bigger government.

In fact, according to the Pew Research Center, the public questions Mr. DiCaprio's consensus. A recent Pew survey found that "Just 27% of Americans say that 'almost all' climate scientists hold human behavior responsible for climate change."

Moreover, the public also questions how much these scientists actually understand. For example:

  • Only 33% of Americans believe climate scientists understand "very well" whether climate change is actually occurring.

  • Only 28% believe scientists understand "very well" the causes behind climate change.

  • And only 19% believe scientists understand "very well" the best ways to address climate change.

Unfortunately, many of our cultural and political elites have also adopted the view that climate change is just as a great a threat, if not more so, than terrorism. That is completely clueless and utterly defies common sense.

Thankfully, the American people don't believe that at all. A May NBC News/Wall Street Journal Poll asked voters to identify the top issue for the federal government to address. The economy was first, followed closely by terrorism. Just eight percent of voters said climate change was their top issue.
