BREAKING NEWS:  Trump To Declare Border Emergency

Moments ago, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders delivered the following statement:

"President Trump will sign the government funding bill, and as he has stated before, he will also take other executive action — including a national emergency — to ensure we stop the national security and humanitarian crisis at the border.  The President is once again delivering on his promise to build the wall, protect the border, and secure our great country."

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said that he will support the president's declaration of a national emergency at the border.

A Failed Coup

Last month the New York Times broke a story that read like the script of a Hollywood blockbuster.  Shortly after the firing of former FBI Director James Comey in May 2017, the FBI had launched an investigation into whether the president of the United States was a Russian agent.

The obvious question was who ordered the investigation?  The Times did not tell us that.  But buried in the story, the paper conceded, "No evidence has emerged publicly that Mr. Trump was secretly in contact with or took direction from Russian government officials."  (More on that below.)

Well, we now know who ordered the investigation of the president -- fired Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.  It was also McCabe who pushed for the appointment of a special counsel.

During an interview with 60 Minutes, McCabe said this:

"I was very concerned that I was able to put the Russia case on absolutely solid ground, in an indelible fashion.  That were I removed quickly, or reassigned or fired, that the case could not be closed or vanish in the night without a trace."

In other words, the deep state's hatred of Donald Trump was so strong that it was determined to undermine his presidency by any and every means possible, even going so far as to accuse the president of treason -- again without any evidence.

But their efforts didn't stop there.  Desperate to remove Trump, McCabe pushed Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to invoke the 25th Amendment.

My friends, it is one thing for the FBI to investigate Russia's attempts to meddle in our elections.  I am 100% in favor of keeping foreign influence out of our elections.

But it is something very different for Obama operatives and biased bureaucrats to use campaign opposition research that relied on foreign sources and Russian rumors to try to destroy the duly elected president of the United States simply because they did not like him.

That is an attempted coup.  And it is a far greater threat to the integrity of our elections than anything Russia could pull off with some internet trolls and Facebook ads.

Once again, I am compelled to ask:  Where is John Huber and what exactly is he investigating?

Senate Finds NO Collusion

In case you missed it, NBC News reported earlier this week that the Senate Intelligence Committee -- after two years of investigation and more than 200 interviews -- has found no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.  Time to move on!

Trump Defends Life

As you know, President Trump recently made very powerful statements in defense of the sanctity of life during his State of the Union address and at the National Prayer Breakfast.  But what you may not know is that he has continued to confront so-called "progressives" over their support for infanticide even when the cameras are not on.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was in Washington, D.C., this week and he stopped by the White House to discuss the impact of federal tax reform on New York's finances.  According to a White House statement, Trump took the opportunity to "raise his concerns to Governor Cuomo about [the left's] support of late-term abortions."

Politico reports that the president also confronted Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) at a dinner last week.  Trump wanted to know why Coons, a devout Presbyterian, wasn't speaking out against infanticide.

Today, I had the honor of participating in a conference call with President Trump.  The call was unique because the president had with him in the Oval Office several individuals, including Melissa Ohden and Micah Pickering, who are living testimonies to the sanctity of life.

Donald Trump has already done so much for the pro-life movement, especially through his court appointments.  But I cannot express just how much it means for the president of the United States to use the bully pulpit and his political capital to defend life.

Pence Warns Iran

Vice President Mike Pence is in Warsaw, Poland, leading an international summit of 60 nations discussing peace and security in the Middle East.  This historic summit has brought numerous Arab states together with Israel to focus on a future free of violence and extremism.

As coalition forces led by the United States are bringing an end to the extremism of the Islamic State, the world's attention must focus on the radical regime that rules the Islamic Republic of Iran.  Below are some excerpts of Vice President Pence's remarks to the Middle East summit:

"Last night was remarkable.  At the outset of this historic conference, leaders from across the region agreed that the greatest threat to peace and security in the Middle East is the Islamic Republic of Iran. . .

"The Iranian regime is the leading state sponsor of terrorism in the world.  They have bombed American embassies, murdered hundreds of American troops. . . Iran has brazenly defied United Nations sanctions, violated resolutions, and plotted terrorist attacks on European soil. . .

"The authoritarian regime in Tehran represses the freedom of speech and assembly, it persecutes religious minorities, brutalizes women, executes gay people, and openly advocates the destruction of the State of Israel. . . But beyond its hateful rhetoric, the Iranian regime openly advocates another Holocaust and it seeks the means to achieve it. . .

"The time has come for our European partners to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal and join with us as we bring the economic and diplomatic pressure necessary to give the Iranian people, the region, and the world the peace, security, and freedom they deserve."

Abrams vs. Omar

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) poured out her vitriol yesterday against my old friend Elliott Abrams, an honorable man who has served three presidents.  Elliott was on Capitol Hill to testify about the Trump Administration's efforts to address the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela.  You can watch the exchange here

Omar offered a typical left-wing critique of U.S. foreign policy.  It was clear that she views the world through the lens of "U.S. imperialism against popular socialist utopias."  But Venezuela is being ruined by socialism.  The Venezuelan people are trying to depose a tyrant.

Here's the irony:  Omar is a big believer in the Trump/Russia delusion.  Yet in yesterday's hearing, she was regurgitating Kremlin talking points about Venezuela.  Vladimir Putin is a strong ally of the Maduro regime, which Omar appeared to be defending.  Is Omar colluding with the Kremlin?
