The Real War On Women
There is a lot of talk about a "war on women" in America. It is utter nonsense spewed by leftist politicians trying to disguise their radical social agenda. There is a very real war on women going on in many Muslim countries, and the left frequently ignores it. Recent tragic events have forced some in the media to confront it.

Three weeks ago, nearly 300 Nigerian schoolgirls were kidnapped in the middle of night. The kidnapping was carried out by Boko Haram -- Nigeria's version of the Taliban. Its name means "Western education is a sin." It is responsible for much of the violence in Nigeria -- church bombings, chainsaw beheadings, village raids and bus bombings. By one estimate, Boko Haram is responsible for 5,000 murders in the past four years. When it isn't targeting Christians, it goes after girls.

The kidnappings have seized the public's attention. Britain, France and America are sending intelligence and counterterrorism agents to Nigeria. Celebrities are talking about it.

CNN ran a report this week that clearly showed Boko Haram's connection to radical Islam. The report noted that a few months ago, dozens of Christian girls were rescued from one of the group's camps. But "some were pregnant or had children, and others had been forcibly converted to Islam and married off to their kidnappers."

Making headlines today is a video from Abubakar Shekau, Boko Haram's leader. Here is some of what this Islamist had to say:

"I am the one that took your girls. …It is Allah that instructed us. Until we soak the ground of Nigeria with Christian blood and so-called Muslims contradicting Islam. After we have killed, killed, killed, and get fatigue and wondering what to do with their corpses -- smelling of [Barack] Obama, [George] Bush and [Goodluck] Jonathan… Infidels have no value. … This war is against Christians, I mean Christians, generally the infidels. Allah says we should finish them when we get them."

There is a real war on women raging throughout much of the Islamic world. The international sex trade is huge. There is still slavery in the world. And radical Islam is complicit in both.

"Bad Science Gone Berserk"

Yesterday's full-court press by the administration to push its radical environmental agenda is getting some push back. John Coleman, co-founder of the Weather Channel, slammed the National Climate Assessment as a "total distortion of the data and agenda driven, destructive episode of bad science gone berserk."

Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK) said, "This climate assessment seems conveniently timed for the week the Senate could be debating the need to approve the Keystone XL [pipeline] as well as expediting the export of liquefied natural gas."

The pipeline has strong support in the Senate, but it may be short of the 60 votes needed to overcome left-wing opposition.

Senator Inhofe also noted that one of the major opponents of the Keystone pipeline is "climate change billionaire, Tom Steyer." You may recall that Steyer recently pledged to spend $100 million to defeat the Keystone XL pipeline. Not long after Steyer's pledge, liberal senators tied up the Senate floor talking about global warming for hours on end.  It seems Steyer has the Oval Office on speed dial too.

And here's a reminder of just how radical the "green movement" is. White House Science Czar John Holdren was the administration's point man for much of the media's coverage of the National Climate Assessment. Among other things, Holdren has advocated for the "de-development" of the United States and for forced abortion and mass sterilization.

She's Back

I can't tell you how much this item depresses me. I pledged years ago that I would not spend another second discussing Monica Lewinsky and Bill Clinton, but I have to.

After more than a decade of relative obscurity, Monica Lewinsky reemerged yesterday and said what we all knew: Since Bill Clinton degraded her in the Oval Office (of all places) her life has been miserable. Her last name has become a verb for a sexual act.

Yesterday, excerpts were released of an article Lewinsky wrote for Vanity Fair. I took her writings as more of a plea, since she has no control over the situation. But with Hillary looming on the horizon as our possible next president, Lewinsky knows that her past will be dredged up again. She claims to hold no grudges and just wants to put her past behind her once and for all.

So what do you think happened this morning? Lewinsky is under attack!

For years, the left has been telling us that there is a "war on women." We're living in a time when universities are being told by the federal government that if they don't do more to stop sexual assaults they risk losing federal money. The entire American military is being run through the wringer because some officers have sexually exploited women under their command. We're told that if you are a religious person and you object to paying for a Georgetown co-ed's birth control, you are part of the "war on women."

If you want to find out about the war on women, give Monica Lewinsky a call because feminists of all stripes are attacking her today. New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd wrote that Lewinsky was "disingenuously and pretentiously" trying to evoke sympathy. Other writers slammed Lewinsky's column as a "whiny new sell-all" and an attempt at "15 more minutes of fame."

In other words, many leftists are still blaming Lewinsky for what happened in the Oval Office. And they continue to hold up Bill Clinton as a paragon of virtue and an appropriate messenger for the "war on women" narrative. Their hypocrisy is disgusting, but not surprising.
