Obama's Weak Response

I have no illusions that Americans are sitting around kitchen tables fretting over U.S. policy toward Egypt. But events in the Middle East can have tremendous implications for the everyday lives of folks on Main Street, U.S.A. And today's headlines once again demonstrate how the White House is making a mess of the Middle East.

There is a lot of irony here given that Obama launched his presidency with a major address in Cairo, Egypt, that sought to re-orient U.S. foreign policy after the Bush years. Now Cairo is gripped by chaos.

The chaos that has gripped Cairo since the removal of Muslim Brother President Mohamed Morsi spread throughout Egypt this weekend. The death toll from the violence surged past 800. This morning Islamist militants executed more than two dozen police recruits in the Sinai Peninsula.

Nixon & Obama

Reasonable conservatives can disagree on the best strategy for dealing with Obamacare or the best approach to immigration reform. But regardless of the approach one may favor, few would entertain solutions that circumvent the Constitution.

“Painstaking Research And A Ruthless Attitude”

GOP Washington elites are still trying to figure out how Barack Obama, with the burden of a terrible economy, managed to win reelection against the establishment’s choice, Mitt Romney. A new book byWashington Post reporter Dan Balz entitled “Collision 2012” contains some of the answers.

Conservative columnist Peggy Noonan reviewed the book in the weekend Wall Street Journal. Her column and the book should be required reading if the GOP is going to learn anything in time for 2014 and 2016.

Obama's Demagoguery

President Obama held a rare White House press conference Friday afternoon in which he actually took a few questions from reporters. Asked to explain his unlawful delay in implementing parts of Obamacare, the president lashed out at Republicans with his usual demagoguery. Here's what Obama said:

Obama Gets Tough In Middle East

The Obama Administration is getting tough with countries in the Middle East, but unfortunately it is cracking down on our allies rather than our enemies.

Media Bias

Conservatives know that media bias is a fact of life. But I often fear that we underestimate just how much of an obstacle it really is. For example, liberal journalists routinely play word games with the latest economic data in order to make the administration look good. Consider this headline about today's figures: "Jobless Claims Total 333,000 vs. 337,000 Estimate."

Planned Parenthood Under Investigation

Responding to a request from more than 70 members of Congress, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) has announced that it is launching a formal investigation of Planned Parenthood and other left-wing outfits that promote abortion. The lawmakers want to know exactly how these organizations are using our tax dollars.
