The tone of virtually all of the media coverage regarding the conflict with Iran has been “President Trump claims X, and Iran says Y, so who really knows?” The front page of today’s New York Times has this headline: “Trump’s Claims On Talks Elicit Gains In Markets, And Denials From Iran.” In other words, who are you going to believe—President Trump’s claims or Iran’s denials?
