Trump’s Trade Deal
When reports started coming out late last night that the first tariff/trade deal would be announced this morning, virtually every media commentator, except those on Fox, downplayed it. “This is just Donald Trump exaggerating again,” they said.
President Trump invited the media into the Oval Office this morning for the big announcement. Again, he will take more questions from the press in one day than Biden did in a month. President Trump then announced a major new deal with the United Kingdom.
Trump invited British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to say a few words over a speakerphone. Starmer praised today’s “historic deal,” noting that it comes “80 years to the day and almost to the hour” when Winston Churchill announced the Allied victory over Nazi Germany, ending World War II in Europe.
Initially, the stock market rose and then dipped a bit. But after the president and prime minister spoke, the markets surged. One of the things announced in the deal is that England agreed to buy $10 billion in new Boeing aircraft. Boeing has had some difficulties lately, but its stock hit a high today for the year on that news.
As companies announce current earnings and earnings projections for the quarters ahead, it is becoming apparent that they are doing exactly what Trump and his team said would happen. The anti-Trump media said consumers would end up paying the tariffs in higher prices.
Trump said that’s not how it works. He predicted companies will do everything they can to avoid charging customers more, especially customers already traumatized by four years of Bidenflation’s sticker shock.
Lo and behold, that’s exactly what many companies are telling us. They are avoiding big price increases through cost savings, greater efficiencies, or getting overseas suppliers to share the costs. Other companies are saying they will absorb the costs in order to remain competitive.
Problems With Pride
Many American businesses have finally come to their senses and realized that it is not a good customer relations move to promote “pride” in the sexual proclivities of a certain segment of society.
The LGBTQ movement first asked to be tolerated. Then, they wanted to be celebrated. Next, they wanted our participation. Now, they use an iron fist to force us to yield to their every demand, including that we accept the lie that men can be women and that we must sacrifice the minds and bodies of our children to their radical ideology.
This militant movement is one of the most well-funded movements in American history. Statistically, LGBTQ individuals have higher incomes than the rest of the country, and they wield enormous influence in the nation’s capital.
So, you can imagine my surprise when I read a full-page Washington Post story about how the right-wing has intimidated businesses into “distancing themselves from Pride.” The only intimidation over the years was the LGBTQ movement shaking down businesses for donations.
Many Americans don’t care what people do in private. But they want it to stay private. They are sick and tired of being told we have to celebrate it. The number of days, weeks, and months dedicated to celebrating “pride,” which is a sin, is absurd. Veterans would give anything to have that kind of recognition.
But there’s another flaw in the Post’s propaganda “news” article. We’re told that there is tremendous fear running through the LGBTQ community because of hate inspired by the Trump administration.
They’re making that claim the same week that pro-woman activist Riley Gaines needed security just to speak on a university campus because violent “Transtifa” activists were threatening her life. Gaines has been assaulted and even held hostage while trying to speak at campus events.
But I do worry about harm at LGBTQ pride events – harm to the children who are exposed to naked men and drag queens in big city parades.
Left-wing Hate
Anyone who has been involved in the pro-family movement fighting the public policy agenda of the gay rights movement can attest to the fact that the radicals of the LGBTQ gang routinely employ violence, intimidation, and hate.
Just ask any woman around the world who wants to keep men out of their bathrooms, locker rooms, and sports or dared to defend the idea of women as a biological reality.
During the Reagan administration, the homosexual movement demanded that the administration send to every household in America instructions on how to have safe anal sex in order to stop the spread of AIDS. Bill Bennett and I vocally opposed this absurd idea.
We argued it would be a better idea to send that information to urban America, where gay men engaged in grotesque sexual practices with total strangers in bathhouses and clubs. But it was inappropriate to send to the typical family in Des Moines or to a 75-year-old widow in Cincinnati.
It wasn’t long before the death threats began. One day, my secretary at the Department of Education opened a large envelope addressed to me and was horrified and sickened to find it was filled with human excrement.
The transgender movement is particularly known for its violence. You’re dealing with sick men who claim they are women, or you’re dealing with women who are taking male hormones, which makes them more likely to be violent.
I firmly believe that we still don’t fully appreciate just how much these cultural issues contributed to Kamala Harris suffering an Electoral College landslide defeat and becoming the first Democrat presidential candidate in 20 years to lose the popular vote.
The Left’s War On Women
Twice in recent weeks, male athletes pretending to be female have totally dominated women’s sporting events. It’s cheating. It’s unfair. It’s demeaning to women. And Democrats are all in.
In Maine, a boy pretending to be a girl won the 800-meter and 1,600-meter events at a girls’ high school track event. A local sports photographer told Fox News, “He blew away all the girls in that particular race [the 1600m]. There wasn’t anybody near him. He easily won it.”
State Representative Laurel Libby, who has been gagged and silenced by Maine Democrats, said, “Every girl who placed 2nd, 3rd, 4th . . . was pushed aside so a boy could ‘win.’ This is NOT fair. Our girls deserve a fair, safe, and level playing field.”
She’s right. But girls and women won’t get fairness as long as radical lunatic leftists are in charge.
In Texas, a man pretending to be a woman raced in five swimming events at the U.S. Masters Swimming Spring National Championship. He didn’t win just one or two races. He won all five events with huge leads.
Deceitful leftist politicians dismiss concerns about men in women’s sports, saying it’s a “non-issue” or even denying that it’s actually happening. Kudos to the new site HeCheated.org, which is naming and shaming the men who steal awards from women.
They have identified nearly 7,000 cases where sick men stole top three awards from women and more than 4,100 cases where these men stole first prize awards from women.
Incredibly, common sense, basic biology, and reality have been rejected by so-called “progressives,” which begs the question: Why would we trust them on anything else?
The American Pope
History was made today when Cardinal Robert Prevost, a native of Chicago, was elected as the new head of the Roman Catholic Church. He took the name Pope Leo XIV.
While he may be the first American-born pope, he has spent much of his life out of the country in Italy and Peru. (Prevost holds Peruvian citizenship.) He was made a cardinal by Pope Francis and is widely seen as an acolyte of the late pontiff, especially on the issue of illegal immigration.
Conservative Catholics we know are not pleased with Prevost’s election.
He reportedly followed two “progressive” American cardinals on social media, where he routinely expressed criticism of President Trump and Vice President Vance. Father James Martin, a Jesuit priest known for his alliance with the LGBTQ movement, praised Prevost’s election as “a brilliant choice.”
Prevost had a leading role in the removal of Bishop Joseph Strickland of Texas, an outspoken conservative. There are also disturbing reports that Prevost mishandled allegations of sexual abuse in the church.
Pray for our Catholic friends.
