A Tremendous Tribute
Everyone who attended or watched on TV Saturday’s military parade in honor of the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday couldn’t help but feel their heart swelling with pride for our country and the men and women who defend it. The parade was a tremendous tribute to their courage and sacrifice.
It was also a great history lesson, as many troops appeared in their unit’s original uniforms. It’s a history all of our children should know. If you missed Saturday’s parade, you can watch it here.
President Trump wanted to do this in his first term. He was met with fierce resistance at the time, including from then-Secretary of Defense James Mattis. The retired Marine general said he would rather “swallow acid” than see a military parade in Washington, D.C.
What kind of officer leadership thinks that it’s horrible to have our own military marching in a parade in its honor? The parade is about boosting the morale of the troops and inspiring patriotism in young Americans.
There was a time in our nation’s history when military parades were common. There were few complaints when an even bigger military parade was held in Washington, D.C., in 1991.
But our globalist secular elitists today look down their noses at such displays of patriotism. Referring to the Army’s birthday parade, Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan wrote:
“It all sounds showy, militaristic and braggadocious, the kind of thing the Soviet Union did in its May Day parades, and North Korea still does. We don’t do that. We don’t have big military parades with shining, gleaming weapons driven through the streets.”
Peggy, it’s time for you to retire.
After watching the parade, other leftists and Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) sufferers had to admit that their irrational fears were totally misplaced.
Far-left commentators on MSNBC were surprised there was no “dark, malevolent energy” at Saturday’s parade. They were surprised that people were “cheering” and said they were there to “celebrate the Army’s 250th birthday.”
Why were they surprised? That was the purpose of the parade!
Washington Post columnist Max Boot, once a prominent neocon advocate of endless wars, left the GOP after Trump’s election in 2016 and suffers from Long TDS.
Boot wrote a column yesterday about his experience at Saturday’s parade. He had to apologize to his left-wing readers who might think he was “going soft on Trump if I tell you that I thoroughly enjoyed the entire parade.” He wrote:
“This was not a menacing, goose-stepping parade a la Moscow or Pyongyang. It was America’s army on display. . . I think it was a good thing for Americans to be reminded of the glorious history of their army — a force for freedom that has defeated some of the most monstrous evils of the past two centuries. . .”
That was the whole point of the parade! That was always the intended purpose of the parade! But today’s hyper-partisan, deranged Left just can’t see past “MAGA Bad.”
Kudos To Fetterman
I am not in the habit of praising Democrat senators, but Pennsylvania’s John Fetterman was perhaps the lone voice of reason in his party. Referring to the Democrats’ animosity, Fetterman posted this on social media:
“This parade is comprised of our sons, daughters, mothers and fathers — the very best of us. Regardless of your politics, it’s appropriate to celebrate the 250 years of sacrifice, dedication and service.”
Well done, senator!
Producing Patriots
Everybody agrees, and we all feel it, that we are living in a dangerous era. There is no doubt that communist China is planning for war. There’s a good argument to be made that they are in fact waging undeclared war against us right now.
In every analysis I have read, patriotism among Chinese youth burns like a wildfire. (Here, here, and here.) The Left in America is doing everything it can to smother patriotism among our youth. The only time the Left is happy when people join the military is when they are gay or transgender.
The Left teaches our children that America is an evil country, founded on genocide and slavery. They say America is a colonialist empire that shouldn’t exist and has never been great. Who is going to risk their lives for that?
After the evil 9/11 attacks, the country rallied together. Democrats and Republicans went out onto the steps of the Capitol and sang “God Bless America.” That unity lasted for about six months.
If America were attacked today, I doubt you would see even that scene repeated on the Capitol steps. Many liberals can’t say “God” and “America” in the same sentence. To them, that sounds too much like “Christian nationalism.”
But in the dangerous world we live in, we need God to bless America more so now than ever before.
Minnesota Murders
Over the weekend, a deranged individual shot Minnesota State Sen. John Hoffman, a Democrat, and his wife, Yvette, in their Champlin home. Fortunately, they survived. However, former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, were not so fortunate. The same gunman shot and killed them in their Brooklyn Park home.
We will learn more about the killer, who is now in police custody, as the investigation continues. What was revealed over the weekend was a strange concoction.
- He was appointed to a state board by two Democrat governors, Mark Dayton and Tim Walz.
- He received a doctorate degree in education from a Catholic university.
- He spent time in Africa, including preaching at a Pentecostal church in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
- He held a variety of responsible jobs.
Melissa Hortman was being accused of betraying the Minnesota Democrat-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL) by being the only DFL member in the state House who voted to deny taxpayer-funded healthcare to illegal aliens. So, Hortman was assassinated in the wake of this vote, which came amid national protests against the enforcement of our immigration laws.
Almost immediately, Governor Walz disclosed that the assassin’s manifesto had been recovered. He had a list of targets reportedly made up of other Democrat lawmakers and abortion clinics.
I haven’t forgotten that when a radicalized woman in Tennessee claiming to be a man went into a Christian school and killed six people, including three children, it took years to get details of her manifesto, which showed her hatred of Christianity. But in this case, we’re getting details of the killer’s manifesto immediately.
There is a difference in how violence is reported depending on who it hurts.
Meanwhile, the “Hypocrisy of the Year” award goes to Governor Tim Walz. He’s telling us to tone down our rhetoric and calling for “peaceful discourse.”
This is the same man who compared immigration enforcement police to the Gestapo.
This is the same man who called Donald Trump a “dictator.”
This is the same man who urged so-called “progressives” to be “meaner” and “bully the sh-t out of [Trump].”
He also said recently that communist China has more “moral authority” than we do.
The Real Radicals
We need to be absolutely clear about this: The divisions in America did not erupt because conservatives suddenly got radicalized.
We have always believed in Faith, Family, and Freedom.
We have always promoted patriotism.
We have always wanted secure borders.
We have always believed, as our Founders did, that our liberty comes from God, not government.
The party that became radicalized is the Democrat Party. That’s not just my opinion. It’s a provable fact. (Here, here, and here.)
John F. Kennedy would be flabbergasted by the extreme makeover of his party. Bill Clinton could not win his party’s nomination today. He would be considered “too moderate.”
As this big gap opened between normal conservatism and the neo-Marxist Left, it was, sadly, inevitable that there would be more violence. It would take pages to provide all the examples of left-wing violence against conservatives and elected officials, but here are a few reminders:
- The socialist who nearly killed Steve Scalise had a hit list of Republicans.
- Pro-life organizations were firebombed after the Dobbs decisions.
- Conservatives who try to speak on college campuses are risking their lives and physical safety.
- For the past two years, it has been dangerous to be a Jew attending left-wing universities like Harvard and Columbia.
- At least two assassination attempts against Donald Trump.
Groups like Antifa and Transtifa are evidence of the Left’s embrace of violence. The Left embraced the 2020 riots, and it is embracing the open borders riots taking place today.
Obviously, we condemn the evil violence of the Minnesota assassin.
But the Left is in no position to wag its finger at us given the violent rhetoric they regularly use.
Israel v. Iran
It’s becoming more and more difficult to get news you can rely on. The Israeli government and my sources in Israel say their military campaign against the Islamic Republic of Iran is going very well. Much of Iran’s military (including its leadership) and its nuclear facilities (including their scientists) have been hit hard.
But Israel is learning that its Iron Dome missile defense system, as great as it is, can be overwhelmed by the volume of attacks and the size of each barrage. As a result, there are heartbreaking videos showing devastated neighborhoods in Haifa, Tel Aviv, and Jerusalem.
I believe Israel clearly has the upper hand. But the price is high, and nobody knows what could happen next.
Iran’s ballistic missile arsenal and its ability to overwhelm the Iron Dome system ought to be additional evidence, if we needed any, that the Iranian regime cannot be permitted to have nuclear weapons. Just imagine if there were tactical nuclear warheads on those missiles!
Meanwhile, many experts are saying that the damage done so far to Iran’s nuclear facilities is not sufficient to end Iran’s nuclear ambitions. It would only delay them.
President Trump’s diplomatic peace efforts – Pakistan and India, Russia and Ukraine, Israel and Iran – are admirable, and we should applaud them. He is pursuing peace through strength, not weakness.
There are reports that Iran is seeking to come back to the negotiating table for a deal on its nuclear program. But Arab officials in communication with Tehran say, “There is no indication Iran is ready to make new concessions in nuclear talks.”
I take the president at his word when he said, “Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.” Iran’s Islamic regime is saying it will not give up its “right” to nuclear weapons.
If that’s where we are, I don’t see what there is to negotiate.
Celebrating Sin
Well, it’s June, and that means certain elements of American society are engaged in a month-long celebration of sin. That’s exactly what “pride” is. In fact, “pride” is often listed as the first of seven deadly sins. But this year is different. Read more in my latest opinion piece at The Stream.
