Elections Have Consequences
I was in Colorado Springs Friday for an important event honoring the life and legacy of Dr. James Dobson and planning for the future of the James Dobson Family Institute. I reminded the attendees of how dedicated President Trump is to protecting religious liberty. He has done more to protect the free exercise of faith than any president in modern American history.
I was reassuring the audience about the president’s commitment to religious freedom when evidence of his commitment became available. The Justice Department’s Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias released a report exposing “numerous instances” of anti-Christian bias by the Biden administration. For example:
- The Department of Labor discriminated against Christian employees seeking time off for religious observances. The department also replaced its Office of Faith-Based Initiatives with an Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
- The State Department forced employees to use preferred pronouns and targeted employees who homeschooled their children.
- The Department of Homeland Security issued guidance for religious accommodations that excluded Christians.
- A public affairs official at the Department of Housing and Urban Development took down social media posts about Christian holidays, while leaving up posts about Pride Month and Ramadan.
There’s much, much more. This shocking anti-Christian bias is what happens when leftists gain power.
Today, we saw the exact opposite. We saw a president committed to protecting religious liberty address a commission he created to do just that.
I was blessed to be standing next to the president when he signed the executive order several months ago creating the Religious Liberty Commission. He turned and handed me one of the first pens he used to sign the order.
Today’s commission meeting at the Museum of the Bible focused primarily on threats to religious liberty in our public schools. Members of the commission heard from students who were mocked for their faith and told they could not exercise their faith at school. The commission also heard heartbreaking testimony from parents whose children were “socially transitioned” by school officials.
These issues—defending religious liberty, parental rights, and protecting our children from transgender ideology—are all woven together and are central to our work at American Values.
Kudos to Dr. Phil McGraw, a member of the Religious Liberty Commission. He said what I have been saying for years: We are in a “religious and cultural war” in America, and all of us are combatants. All of us—our children and our families—are targets of the secular, neo-Marxist Left.
He blasted the radical teachers’ unions that are pushing transgender ideology on our kids while teachers are totally “unprepared” to deal with the psychological impacts, just as they are unprepared to “remove a spleen.”
We wouldn’t allow teachers to perform surgery on our kids. And we shouldn’t allow them to perform intense psychiatric experiments on our kids!
Trump Wins Again
President Trump won a big victory at the Supreme Court today.
In July, a federal district court judge effectively banned the administration from conducting immigration enforcement operations in Los Angeles. The judge declared it was unconstitutional for immigration officers to consider race, location, type of work, or whether someone was speaking Spanish before they were detained.
Leftists praised the ruling, claiming it showed how immigration enforcement was racist and discriminatory.
Today, in a 6-to-3 vote, the justices essentially said, “That’s absurd.” They lifted the lower court’s injunction, allowing the administration to continue to enforce our immigration laws in Los Angeles.
Media Malfeasance
Last month, Iryna Zarutska was brutally murdered on a light rail train in Charlotte, North Carolina. The media reaction to her murder gives us an incredible view of the Left’s agenda and how it is determined to prevent the American people from understanding what is happening.
This young woman fled the war in Ukraine and came to America as a war refugee. She moved to Charlotte with her whole life in front of her. Security video on the train shows her last moments alive as a man sitting behind her pulls out a knife and repeatedly plunges it into her neck.
Her murderer, a 34-year-old black man, had been arrested 14 times. He has been in and out of the criminal justice system, and that system failed Iryna Zarutska.
If a white man randomly murdered a black woman on a Charlotte train, every major media outlet would be using this “racially motivated hate crime” to attack every MAGA voter. They would be blaming President Trump for the “atmosphere of hate he created” in our country.
In any other situation involving an attack on a refugee, the media would be screaming from the rooftops. Brutal crimes at the local level make national news all the time. This story should be national news. But because the facts didn’t fit the leftist narrative, the entire left-wing media buried the story.
Here’s the truth: This isn’t about race. All Americans of every race want safe communities, safe schools, and safe workplaces. Minority Americans are disproportionately the victims of crime.
Meanwhile, the mayor of Charlotte, another liberal Democrat, issued a series of vomit-inducing statements, suggesting that we’re supposed to feel sorry for the murderer.
Well, some left-wing media outlets are finally expressing their outrage. At the killer? Oh, no.
They’re furious that conservative media outlets are actually reporting on it. In fact, the far-left outlet Axios went so far as to blame the train’s surveillance cameras for acting as a “big accelerant” in the effort of MAGA influencers to expose underreported crimes.
But here’s how one conservative activist put it:
“For those keeping score on the ever-changing progressive, intersectional hierarchies Olympics: BLM + DEI + criminal > Ukrainian + refugee + woman. What did I miss? It’s tough to keep up these days.”
President Trump is locked in a battle with every left-wing officeholder in America simply because he wants to send in federal law enforcement to our major cities to help stop the killings, assaults, and carjackings and restore order in our streets. And the entire left-wing media complex is on the side of the politicians who are supporting the criminals against the citizens. (See next item.)
Pro-Crime Progressives
Over the weekend, several thousand mostly white middle-aged leftists marched in Washington, D.C., demanding that the carjackings, robberies, drug deals, and murders be allowed to return to our nation’s capital. Why? Because the “Nazi president” took them away. That’s why.
Well, they didn’t quite put it that way. But they were marching against the president of the United States for putting extra federal law enforcement on the streets, resulting in a major reduction in crime. And they want it reversed immediately!
Right now, parents are relieved as their children walk to school. Retired couples are enjoying the fall weather. People are not rushing through stoplights out of fear of being carjacked.
This calm and tranquility is just too much for these so-called “progressives.” So, they took to the streets, demanding a return of the chaos. Then drove back to their million-dollar homes in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. But the president is the racist, don’t you know? How dare he try to help minority residents in the nation’s capital!
Terror Hits Jerusalem
I spent a lot of time with author Joel Rosenberg at the James Dobson Family Institute’s “The Gathering” this weekend, where we both spoke. Rosenberg, a Messianic Jew, is a longtime advocate for the U.S./Israel alliance. His sons have served in the Israeli Defense Forces, and his family lives in Jerusalem.
He said the entire country of Israel is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, adding, “But we’re not ‘post’ yet.” The trauma and violence are ongoing. The nation of Israel needs our prayers.
Coming back from “The Gathering,” I saw the horrific news that at least 26 Israelis were shot at a bus stop in Jerusalem. Six were killed.
In related news, President Trump issued his “last warning” to Hamas to accept a ceasefire and release all the hostages.
Thune Goes Nuclear
When Senator Mitch McConnell said that his first priority was to stop Barack Obama’s agenda, Democrats and their media allies crucified him. But that’s exactly what Democrats are doing. They are trying to stop President Trump’s agenda by preventing him from having a full team of appointees in place.
Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer is refusing to allow voice votes on dozens of non-controversial nominees. Instead, he is forcing multiple roll call votes on every single nominee. It would take 600 additional roll call votes to clear out the backlog of Trump nominations stuck in the Senate.
As a result of Schumer’s blockade, Senate Majority Leader John Thune is preparing to invoke the nuclear option to change the Senate rules so that multiple nominees who have cleared the committee process can be confirmed by a voice vote at the same time.
By the way, this rule change was actually proposed by the Democrats two years ago.
