Putting America First

President Trump made a major announcement on Russia and the war in Ukraine yesterday. But, first, a little history is helpful.

When Barack Obama was president, Vladimir Putin invaded and seized the Crimean Peninsula. The Obama/Biden administration did nothing.

When Donald Trump became president in 2017, Putin did not invade anything.

When Joe Biden became president, Putin invaded Ukraine again.

Trump is back in the White House, and he is demanding a peace deal to end the Russian/Ukrainian war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he’s willing to negotiate. If Putin would agree right now to negotiate in good faith, Russia would likely come out on top in any peace deal. But Putin shows no interest in doing that.

In contrast to his critics, Donald Trump is not a pushover. He wants peace, and we should want a president who wants peace. But no U.S. adversary should underestimate Donald Trump.

He wants the death and destruction of the Ukrainian war to end, but Putin won’t stop intentionally bombing civilians. So, President Trump has agreed to do something he did not want to do.

He just approved a deal to provide more weapons to Ukraine. But he figured out a way to still put America first. Rather than putting U.S. taxpayers on the hook as Joe Biden repeatedly did, Trump agreed to sell the weapons to NATO, and our European allies will transfer them to Ukraine.

The president said, “We’ve made a deal today where we’re going to be sending them weapons and they’re going to be paying for them. . . [NATO] is paying for everything.”

Trump also gave Putin 50 days to reach an agreement with Ukraine, or the U.S. will impose 100% “secondary” tariffs on Russia, further isolating Russia. That means any country trading with Russia will get hit with 100% tariffs from the United States.

Real Leadership

In recent years, the war wing of the Republican Party relentlessly smeared Donald Trump, accusing him of wanting to “blow up NATO.” Why did they say that? Because he demanded NATO countries pay their dues for their own defense.

Only in the warped “forever-war” mindset can demanding that allies pay their fair share be seen as “blowing up the alliance” and “undermining national security.”

And, of course, Trump succeeded. European nations are in the middle of a massive defense buildup that would have been unimaginable under Joe Biden. That’s why Mark Rutte, the head of NATO, praised President Trump’s leadership at the White House yesterday for getting Europe to “step up.”

A Grand Conspiracy

The Trump administration’s efforts to expose the Deep State and end the weaponization of government just took a big step forward. The FBI has launched an investigation into whether there was a grand criminal conspiracy that extended over three presidential administrations by the Deep State to aid Democrats and hurt Republicans.

Two classified documents are essential to this investigation, and President Trump would have to declassify them for the investigation to proceed.

The first document is a classified annex to a 2018 report by the Justice Department’s inspector general’s review of Hillary Clinton’s illegal email server, which may show that the FBI gave Hillary preferential treatment.

The second document is a classified annex from Special Counsel John Durham’s report about the FBI’s “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation of Donald Trump. That investigation into alleged Russian collusion never should have happened because our intelligence agencies knew the false allegations of collusion were coming from the Clinton campaign.

What FBI Director Kash Patel is looking for is the extent to which all of these events and other Deep State efforts during the Biden/Harris administration are connected and whether they violate the RICO law, which makes it illegal for multiple parties to conspire to commit illegal acts.

Why is this development so significant? Under RICO, the statute of limitations begins to run when the criminal conspiracy ends. The conspiracy has continued for years, so these Deep State crimes dating back to 2016 could be prosecutable.

Secondly, RICO allows prosecutors to impanel a grand jury anywhere the conspiracy took place. For example, one part of the Deep State conspiracy was raiding the president’s home in Florida. So, a grand jury could be created there, instead of in Washington, D.C., which is owned by the Democrats.

If FBI Director Patel and Attorney General Bondi agree that there is evidence of a grand conspiracy, then Katy, bar the door! All kinds of documents will be subpoenaed, and a lot of Swamp creatures will be compelled to testify.

It would be the biggest political event in modern American history, and the implications would be huge!

Judicial Reform

Yesterday’s Supreme Court decision allowing the Trump administration to restructure the Department of Education was another ruling showing the ideological split on the court. The six conservative justices said that the president does have the authority to determine the staffing levels in the executive branch. The three liberal justices said, “No.”

This decision is the latest victory for the White House involving cases on the same theme, and it is a very encouraging development.

Speaking of encouraging developments, the United States Senate confirmed the first Trump judicial nominee of his second term yesterday. Whitney Hermandorfer was confirmed to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and she is extremely impressive.

Hermandorfer clerked for not one, not two, but three Supreme Court justices – Alito, Barrett, and Kavanaugh. Most recently, she successfully defended Tennessee’s law protecting children from sterilizing and mutilating transgender procedures before the Supreme Court.

If there was any hint of scandal in her background, we would have heard about it. But there was barely any news at all.

I bring that up because she was confirmed by a narrow vote of 46 to 42. Lindsey Graham, call your office!

Graham is the leader of a group of Republican senators who say a president’s nominees should always be confirmed unless there is a major ethical problem. These Republicans will often vote for left-wing judicial nominees.

The Democrats don’t take that approach. They do everything they can to stop every conservative judicial nominee. The vote on this nominee should have been at least 85 to 15. We must stop playing by the old rules.

Combating Campus Antisemitism

University leaders appeared before the House Education and Workforce Committee today to explain why their campuses have been overrun by antisemites. While Republicans focused on the root causes of antisemitism and how to combat it, Democrats were more interested in combating the Trump administration.

If they weren’t accusing the president of attacking “higher education,” they were accusing him of antisemitism or harassing illegal aliens.

By the way, Israel and antisemitism are tearing the Democrat Party apart. And it’s not just radical leftists in New York City or Los Angeles.

In North Carolina, a swing state, the Democrat Party recently voted to condemn Israel as an “apartheid” state that is committing “genocide in Gaza.” The resolution also called for an arms embargo against Israel. According to the Washington Post, two other state Democrat parties have adopted similar anti-Israel resolutions.

In fact, recent polling found a total collapse in support for Israel among Democrats. When asked who they sympathized more with, 64% of Republicans said Israelis, while just 7% said the Palestinians. Among Democrats, only 12% said they sympathized more with Israelis, while 60% said the Palestinians.

That’s a stunning transformation of the party where American Jews historically made their home.

The Next Mayor Of Minneapolis?

You know about the Marxist running for mayor of New York City. Polls indicate he is the frontrunner. And he’s not alone.

Omar Fateh is running for mayor of Minneapolis, and his platform is the same: America is systematically racist; our judicial system is racist; the police are racist; if you don’t want to pay for illegal aliens to get a free education, you’re a white supremacist; and the “rich” are really going to pay.

One by one, the big cities of America are being lost to Marxism. We already have mayors in major cities like Chicago and Los Angeles who get up every morning not worried about protecting Americans but protecting “migrants” from all over the world who illegally entered America.

Conservatives and small business owners who live in a big city should seriously consider moving in order to protect their families and their assets.

A Second Opinion

I have been critical of the left-wing director of the new Superman movie. But a number of conservatives came away from seeing the movie with a positive impression. They said the director’s left-wing support of open borders doesn’t dominate the film, and what really comes across are conservative values that I have written about.

Adoption is good. Children need the nuclear family of a mother and a father. And Superman is the man he is because his mother and father raised him with Middle American heartland values.

That’s how I recently described the Superman I grew up watching. If that’s the main message of this movie, then the movie will do well.
