The Anti-American Left
The left-wing media outlet Axios can always be relied on to display the “zeitgeist” of Washington elites. That’s why Axios is having a fit over President Trump’s efforts to defend American culture and traditions.
The entire secular globalist juggernaut gets most frenetic whenever they see any attempt to restore a sense of moral purpose and virtue to the American experiment in ordered liberty under God. It drives them crazy because they are moral relativists.
One of the reasons they don’t want borders, in addition to crass political reasons, is that they don’t see any difference in cultures. In their view, all cultures are equal, and America was never a great nation.
That’s why Donald Trump drove them crazy when he said he would put America first and Make America Great Again.
At a time when examples of corruption and bad moral character are everywhere, leftist elites are having a meltdown on MSDNC’s “Morning Joe” because the Trump administration plans to reemphasize “good moral character” in our immigration policy.
Apparently, diversity isn’t just about race. We need a diversity of morality. These leftists seem to be saying, “America can’t be a country of just good moral character.” Why else would they object?
They’re acting like Trump is doing something unimaginable, and the Hitler analogies are flying left and right. They have Hitler confused with the Founding Fathers. Our first immigration law, written in 1790, declared:
“The court admitting such alien shall be satisfied that he has resided within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States five years; and it shall further appear to their satisfaction, that during that time, he has behaved as a man of a good moral character. . .”
Sadly, such confused thinking about America even infected the GOP. When Donald Trump said he wanted to pause Muslim immigration into the United States “until we figure out what is going on” with Islamic terrorism, some GOP elites slammed Trump’s commonsense proposal as “un-American.”
What is “un-American” is refusing to seriously address a threat to the safety of the American people.
What is “American”?
Our country is built on Judeo-Christian civilization. Those values influenced our Founding Fathers, who declared that our liberty comes from God, not government. Our Constitution and our Republic are firmly rooted in those values.
Here’s a simple test. Imagine that America’s first settlers at Plymouth Rock came from Muslim nations. Imagine that our Founding Fathers were influenced by the Koran, not the Bible.
We know exactly what that “America” would look like. It would be just like any of the 50 Islamic nations in the world today. Most of them are not nice places for women, religious minorities, and free speech.
The Left demands that we celebrate all cultures. But anyone who celebrates American culture is denounced as a “bigot.” They would never tell the Japanese to stop being Japanese. But we’re not allowed to define what it means to be American, much less be proud of it.
This is not a trivial matter.
We have radicals in our streets and on our college campuses chanting, “Death to America!” and other calls for violence. We have Marxists committed to “fundamentally transforming” America, not because they love America but because they hate America and want it to be something entirely different.
We’ve taken our nation and our freedoms for granted for far too long. The barbarians are now inside the gates.
Remembering Abbey Gate
Surrounded by Gold Star families, President Trump signed a proclamation yesterday recognizing the four-year anniversary of the Abbey Gate bombing and honoring the sacrifice of the families with him in the Oval Office.
That horrific event, in which 13 U.S. military personnel were brutally murdered at the Kabul airport, was so revealing of the rot that had taken root in our own military.
Good men and women died needlessly. But the Biden White House said there was “no chaos.” No one was held accountable. No one resigned in protest.
Throughout 2021, Joe Biden’s polling had been stable up to that point. After the Abbey Gate bombing, his approval rating plummeted and never recovered.
The American people saw Biden for what he was—incompetent. They don’t like to see America humiliated, and they don’t like to see brave young men and women dying because of incompetence.
The Biden White House and its media co-conspirators did everything they could to memory-hole those heroes and their families. Donald Trump never forgot them.
In related news, President Trump signed an executive order yesterday making flag burning punishable by one year in jail. Predictably, Trump was attacked for threatening free speech because the Supreme Court protected flag burning in 1989, as long as it’s your flag and not someone else’s. But the media ignored the nuance in Trump’s order.
The president ordered the Justice Department to prosecute cases of flag desecration when it is related to other crimes (igniting a fire in areas where burning is prohibited), when done in such a way that incites violence, and when “prosecution wouldn’t fall afoul of the First Amendment.”
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz attacked the president’s order as a “fascist policy.” No, governor, fascism is 15 years in jail for burning a so-called “pride flag.” Fascism is facing 10 years in jail for vandalizing a “pride” crosswalk.
No one on the Left would respond to the burning of a Koran or a “pride flag” as an “exercise of free speech.” They would be denouncing “right-wing hate” and demanding punishment for so-called “hate speech.”
Making DC Safe Again
While Democrats are panicking about President Trump’s deployment of National Guard troops to Washington, D.C., to fight crime, 54% of voters say the deployment was “justified and necessary.” Given that the press coverage of Trump’s decision is universally “hair on fire” hysterical, that’s a great response!
Over the past three years, Washington, D.C., has had an average of 221 homicides a year. That’s at least one murder every other day. Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, the city went 12 days without one murder. More than 1,000 criminals were arrested, including 100 illegal aliens. Robberies are down 42% and carjackings are down 85%.
Historic Move
President Trump made a historic move late yesterday. He became the first president to fire a sitting governor of the Federal Reserve. The president sent a letter of termination to Governor Lisa Cook, citing his authority to remove her under Article II of the Constitution and the Federal Reserve Act of 1913.
Cook is refusing to leave, claiming the president does not have “cause” to fire her. The “cause,” in Cook’s case, is the criminal referral that was recently filed against her by Bill Pulte, director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency.
Pulte’s complaint alleges that within one month, Cook purchased two properties—one in Georgia and one in Michigan. But she illegally declared both properties as her primary residence in order to get lower interest rates on both mortgages, clearly gaming the system.
Cook is one of 12 people whose votes determine the interest rates for the country. Rates set by the Federal Reserve massively influence mortgage rates. The housing market has seized up because mortgage rates are too high because the interest rates set by the Federal Reserve are too high.
While average Americans can’t afford to buy their first house, Cook has the attitude of bureaucratic elites and thinks the rules don’t apply to her. And the entire political and media establishment does what? It rushes to defend her.
That’s why the corruption just keeps going because there’s one set of rules for the ruled and another set of rules for the rulers.
By the way, Dr. Lisa Cook got her PhD in economics from the University of California, Berkeley. Not surprisingly, she is a major advocate of reparations for slavery.
Cook is a left-wing activist put on the Federal Reserve by Joe Biden or his autopen. The Fed has been politicized by the Left. From the Smithsonian to the Federal Aviation Administration, you name it, the Left has poisoned it.
Billionaires For Marxists
Marxist Zohran Mamdani remains the front runner in the race for mayor of New York City. Not only is he leading in the polls, he is also leading in the money race.
In fact, Mamdani recently accepted a $250,000 check from billionaire hedge fund heiress Elizabeth Simons. Someone may want to remind Ms. Simons that Mamdani doesn’t think people like her should exist.
Mamdani is a member of and has been endorsed by the Democrat Socialists of America (DSA). Among other truly bizarre things, the DSA platform calls for an end to the prosecution of misdemeanor crimes.
That means thefts of less than $1,000 won’t be prosecuted, which means criminals will just steal $999 worth of goods and get off scot-free. That means New York City businesses will go bankrupt and shut down, putting people out of work. California tried this soft-on-crime approach, and it was a total disaster.
This is the exact opposite of the “broken windows” philosophy that Rudy Giuliani used to successfully tackle the crime crisis in New York City. The point of that approach is that you don’t tolerate the thug who throws a rock through a window. By prosecuting him, you are deterring criminals from committing more serious crimes.
Mamdani’s approach to policing is radically different. He even questioned the entire concept of violent crime, saying, “Violence is an artificial construction.”
