Pence Remembers 9/11

Yesterday we brought you the words of President Donald Trump at the dedication of the new 9/11 memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Today, I want to share with you some of Vice President Mike Pence's remarks at yesterday's Pentagon ceremony.

Pence did not hesitate to identify the enemy, and he stressed the urgent need to "understand the lessons of 9/11," something far too many of our elites refuse to do.  And one of those lessons is that our lax immigrations laws were partly responsible for the 9/11 atrocity.

Below are some excerpts of the vice president's remarks:

"Seventeen years ago today, America fell under attack.  Nineteen radical Islamic terrorists seized control of four commercial airlines to strike the centers of our economy, our military, and our national government. . .

"Now, while many of us remember that day like it was yesterday, a growing number of Americans have no living memory of what happened here.  Roughly one-quarter of our people were born after September the 11th, 2001.  So we gather here today to reflect on what we remember — to remember the fallen, their families, and the heroes that day.

"But be assured, we also gather here to ensure that each succeeding generation knows the story of what happened that dark day and understands why we must learn the lessons of 9/11 and remain ever vigilant in the defense of our nation and our people. . .

"We honor the fallen by remembering them.  But as Secretary Mattis said, we also honor them by ensuring that we do everything in our power, as a nation, to prevent the evil of radical Islamic terrorism from ever reaching our shores again. . .

"Today, on this September 11, we mourn with those who mourn, and grieve with those who grieve.  But we do not grieve like those who have no hope, because heroes give us hope."

Left-wing Hate

In a recent report, I noted that nearly 60% of Americans fear violence from the left.  Some recent headlines, largely ignored by the so-called "mainstream media," demonstrate why this is a valid concern.  For example:

  • Last week, a Republican Party office in Wyoming was firebombed just two days after it opened.
  • Over the weekend, a rabid Trump-hater attempted to stab a California Republican congressional candidate.
  • Last night, a Democrat Socialist threatened to assassinate conservatives at the Trump Hotel in Washington, D.C.  He tweeted, "I'm coming with a gun and I expect to get numerous bloodstained MAGA hats as trophies."
  • Conservative commentator Denise McAllister has gone into hiding after receiving death threats and rape threats over a pro-life tweet.
  • The office of Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) has been inundated with hateful emails, letters and voicemails in opposition to Brett Kavanaugh.  Three thousand coat hangers have been sent to her office.  One person called and told a female staffer that "he hoped she would be raped and impregnated."

It is worth noting that the Twitter threat of a mass shooting at the Trump Hotel came on the same day that MSNBC host Joe Scarborough published an opinion piece in the Washington Post suggesting that Donald Trump was a greater threat to America than Al Qaeda.

The hysteria and constant incitement on the left is creating a very dangerous and undemocratic atmosphere in America.  Of course, no one knows this better than Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), who was shot and almost killed by a deranged Bernie Sanders supporter.

Today, Scalise called on liberals to condemn the left's political violence, saying, "There's no place for it. . . That's not what American ideals are about."

Impeach Pence?

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) is well-known for her calls to impeach President Trump.  But recently, she told a left-wing group that she wants to impeach not only Trump, but also Mike Pence

She said that when people warn her Pence would be worse, she says, "Look, one at a time. . .  We'll be ready for Pence.  We'll get him, too!"

Clearly, the left's opposition to Trump has little to do with his style.  The left simply refuses to accept the results of 2016 election.  It refuses to accept that the Trump/Pence team is reversing Obama's "fundamental transformation" of America.

Strzok Strikes Again

Newly revealed text messages prove yet again that the FBI leadership was more than justified in firing Peter Strzok.  It turns out that Strzok and his mistress, former FBI lawyer Lisa Page, were plotting a "media leak strategy" and working to plant anti-Trump op-eds in the media.

At a minimum, that appears to be a violation of Hatch Act, which prohibits government employees from engaging in partisan political activity.  It also seems to confirm the worst fears of millions of Americans -- that the FBI investigation of the Trump campaign was rigged from the beginning and part of a deep state plot to elect Hillary Clinton.

Strzok's attorney says we have it all backwards -- Strzok and Page were really trying to stop leaks at the FBI and the Justice Department.  As Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz said, "That just doesn't pass the giggle test."

As Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) noted, the Justice Department inspector general uncovered a pervasive culture of leaking.  It was so bad that "one reporter had 13 different individuals at the FBI who were feeding him information."

Moreover, as Jordan pointed out, the FBI "cited media reports to buttress the dossier, which wasn't valid, wasn't corroborated, wasn't credible," when it sought warrants from the FISA court to spy on the Trump campaign.

Former U.S. Attorney Joe diGenova said recently that the next 30 days are "going to be bad for a bunch" of deep state people.  I hope he is right.
