A Spreading Sickness

Sickness is spreading on the left.  Countless progressives are coming down with severe cases of Trump Derangement Syndrome.  It is becoming virtually impossible to catalogue it all.  In spite of my effort at humor, this is an extremely serious development and its implications should not be underestimated.

The most extreme example occurred Friday night when Sarah Huckabee Sanders and her dining party were kicked out of the Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, Virginia.

When the owner of the Red Hen, Stephanie Wilkinson, got the "911 call" from her restaurant staff that Sanders had been spotted, she immediately rushed to her establishment.  Once she confirmed that Sanders was in fact dining at her restaurant, she called for a vote of the staff.

Wilkinson later told reporters that the homosexuals who work for her were particularly adamant about not serving the press secretary of the president of the United States because he will not allow open transsexuals to serve in the military.

Sanders and her party immediately left.  Some folks say that she should have made a stand and refused to leave.  But would you really want people this crazy preparing your food?

Over the weekend, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) stoked the left's anger when she told crowd of protestors:

"If you see anybody from [the Trump Administration] in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they're not welcome anymore, anywhere."

Waters got her wish when Pam Bondi, the attorney general of Florida, was accosted and heckled when she went to see a movie about Mr. Rogers.  Apparently, Bondi is not welcome in Mr. Roger's neighborhood.

On Fox News this morning, Bondi said the protestors, who surrounded her and were screaming in her face, "were trying to create a fight" and warned that these kinds of "protests" are going to incite violence.

Respectfully, I would remind her that "violence" has already happened.  A year ago, a deranged Bernie Sanders supporter didn't just heckle someone.  He opened fire and grievously wounded Rep. Steve Scalise in an attempt to murder multiple Republican congressmen.

Left-wing Hate

The demonization of conservatives that is happening today will inevitably lead to violence.  Last week, left-wing commentator Donny Deutsch said this:

"We can no longer say Trump's the bad guy.  If you vote for Trump, you're the bad guy. . . If you vote for Trump, then you, the voter. . . are standing at the border, like Nazis. . ."

But it is radical leftists who are acting like fascists by dehumanizing conservatives.  Remember Hillary Clinton's infamous speech in which she demonized a huge part of the country as "deplorable and irredeemable"?

This kind of dehumanization always leads to violence, which we are seeing in Antifa and the Occupy Wall Street movement.   By the way, a radical black activist is now calling for police officers in Pittsburgh to be assassinated.

All those in the media, academia and Hollywood who are equating normal positions such as securing the border and religious liberty with fascism and bigotry are using incendiary speech.

They are responsible for the violence that is already taking place, and they will be responsible for whatever nightmares may occur if they keep it up.

Back To The Border

Supporters of the left-wing group LULAC held a demonstration at the McAllen Border Patrol Station Saturday.  For a brief time, they blocked a bus with illegal immigrants who were being relocated to another facility.  A Border Patrol agent had his ankle broken in the scuffle.

Was that the kind of uprising Nancy Pelosi called for recently?

Bill Bennett and I fought LULAC during the Reagan years when the group resisted teaching Mexican students how to read and speak English faster.  LULAC insisted that the children be taught in Spanish in our public schools.  And the group still prioritizes foreign languages over English, at tremendous costs to local taxpayers.

A similar scene is playing out in Portland, where left-wing demonstrators have blockaded and shutdown the local ICE office for several days now.  They took down the American flag and raised a flag that reads "Refugees Welcome."

Maybe this is the uprising Nancy Pelosi wanted.

Here are some facts you may not know:

  • 83% of the children who crossed the border illegally and who are currently in HHS custody "arrived to the United States without a parent or guardian."  In other words, the parents separated themselves from their children before the children arrived here.
  • A majority of Border Patrol agents are Hispanic.
  • Rep. Michael McCaul, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said yesterday, "We stop 10 terrorists every day from getting into this country."

If 10 are stopped every day, how many are getting into the country every day because of the left's insane open borders policies?  Border security is national security.

Meanwhile the Department of Homeland Security issued an alert Saturday warning all employees to secure their homes and take additional safety precautions due to a spike in "specific and credible threats."  That would be threats from left-wing radicals, not conservatives.

This warning comes as progressive candidates all over the country are calling ICE "a terrorist organization" and calling for it to be abolished.  That means they are literally calling for an end to the enforcement of our immigration laws.

Perhaps the radical left's nonsense is beginning to backfire.  A new poll finds that a majority of Americans are now inclined to support Trump's border wall.
