Trump Enforces The Law

Yesterday, Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly issued two orders effectively removing Obama-era restrictions on our immigration enforcement and Border Patrol officers. The first order called for federal agencies to begin "expeditiously" hiring 10,000 Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and 5,000 new Border Patrol agents.

It also restarted a program that allows qualified local law enforcement officers to assist with federal immigration enforcement. That program was suspended by the Obama Administration.

The second order establishes priorities for deporting illegal immigrants. For example:

  • Illegal immigrants who have been convicted of any criminal offense.
  • Those who have been charged with any criminal offense.
  • Those who have engaged in fraud or willful misrepresentation.
  • Those who have abused public benefits.
  • Those who have not complied with prior deportation orders.
  • Those who "otherwise pose a risk to public safety or national security."

Further underscoring the change of focus, the Department of Homeland Security is shutting down advocacy programs for illegal immigrants and is redirecting those resources to provide support to the victims of crimes committed by illegal immigrants.

Predictably, the open borders crowd -- the ACLU, various left-wing activists, big media and many liberal politicians -- are howling in protest. But here's a reality check: This is all current law and has been the law of the United States for decades.

The outrage occurred when Barack Obama, who swore to uphold the law, perverted the idea of "prosecutorial discretion" to ignore large portions of immigration law and effectively grant mass amnesty.

President Trump has said that his administration would start enforcing our immigration laws again and he is doing it!

If liberal senators don't like what President Trump is doing, let's put each of those enforcement priorities on the Senate floor for a vote. Let's find out exactly what it is that the left doesn't like.

Do liberals object to deporting illegal immigrant convicted criminals? Do they object to deporting illegal immigrants who have lied to the government, stolen someone's ID or abused public welfare programs?

This could be very educational for the American people!

By the way, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly are in Mexico today. I suspect border security will be a key item on the agenda in talks with Mexican officials.

Unfortunately, reports suggest our "friends" to the south are not feeling very cooperative. Mexico's foreign minister said his country rejects "unilateral" U.S. immigration proposals. When did we start asking Mexico's to approve our immigration policies? In addition, Mexican officials are vowing to "defend immigrants" against Trump's new policies at the United Nations.

Go ahead, make my day! I am willing to have that fight. Either we are a sovereign country with clear borders that we defend and protect or we are not a not a free nation at all.

    Taking On Sanctuary Cities

Last week, Estivan Velasquez, a 19 year-old illegal immigrant and MS-13 gang member, walked out of a New York City jail after serving a five-month prison sentence. Federal officials had asked the city to detain Velasquez, but city officials refused to honor the request due to Mayor Bill de Blasio's sanctuary city policies. Thankfully, immigration agents were able to find and arrest Velasquez themselves.

Incredibly, Mayor de Blasio blasted the federal government. Other local officials are now demanding that New York City police officers stop arresting criminals if they may be subject to deportation.

That's really stunning. Every citizen and legal resident of New York City -- Haitian, German, Puerto Rican whatever -- should be outraged with public officials who refuse to arrest illegal immigrants who commit crimes.

When it comes to taking on sanctuary cities, the public is solidly behind President Trump. A new poll by Harvard University finds that 80% of voters oppose sanctuary city policies.

The same poll also found strong support for other measures President Trump has taken lately. For example, 56% of voters support the president's order pausing immigration from the seven countries on the terrorism watch list and 53% support the 120-day pause on refugees.

    A Two For One Deal

A group of anti-Trump protestors yesterday hung a large banner on the Statue of Liberty that read "Refugees Welcome." Given the genocide that is taking place against Christians in the Middle East, and the latest threat by ISIS to eradicate Christians in Egypt, I've got an idea for bringing in more refugees.

Modeling my idea on President Trump's order that for every new regulation issued two existing ones must be repealed, here's what I suggest: For every Christian refugee we take who is fleeing Islamic religious persecution, let's send two liberals to the country of their choice -- France, Cuba, Venezuela, wherever.

And I suggest we start with these two radicals (here and here) who were recently interviewed by Tucker Carlson!

    The Real Hacking Story

We've heard a lot (probably too much) about alleged Russian hacking of the election. But I've been waiting for another hacking story to break in the mainstream media. So far, it has gone largely unnoticed. But the details expose the media's outrageous left-wing bias.

Several weeks ago, three Pakistani brothers who did computer work for multiple members of Congress were fired. A criminal investigation, involving at least five people, is currently underway, but reports suggest that they accessed the computer files of members of Congress and perhaps even the House Intelligence Committee.

Today there is news -- not from the mainstream media, but the conservative Daily Caller -- that the "Congressional aides suspected of criminally misusing their access to House computer systems owed $100,000 to an Iraqi politician who is wanted by U.S. authorities and has been linked to Hezbollah."

Now doesn't this sound like a really juicy story that most enterprising journalists would eagerly dig into? You'd think so. Except this one involving liberal politicians and Pakistanis and Hezbollah doesn't fit the left-wing narrative.
