Trump Fights Back

Special Counsel Robert Mueller has concluded his investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election.  He has submitted his report to Attorney General William Barr, who made the report available to the public and to members of Congress.

Mueller found no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia and did not charge the president with obstruction of justice.  Case closed, right?  Well, not exactly.

Progressive politicians are doubling down on their delusions.  They are now issuing subpoenas for the president's taxes, his business records, his bank statements, as well as his current and former staff members.

The president has had enough, and he is fighting back.  Trump is suing left-wing members of Congress to stop a fishing expedition into his businesses, and he is refusing congressional demands for current and former staff members to testify on Capitol Hill.

Robert Mueller and a team of Hillary Clinton-supporting lawyers investigated Trump for two years.  As we reported, Trump fully cooperated with the Mueller investigation.  He did not invoke executive privilege.  He told his staff to testify freely.  And Mueller found nothing.  And nothing will be served by continuing down this dead-end road.

If Putin's goal, as Robert Mueller stated, was to sow discord and chaos and undermine our republic, then this continued partisan trench warfare, driven by those on the left, that is paralyzing our government is only serving Putin's interests.

Jared Kushner was asked this week about the Russia collusion controversy.  Kushner noted that Russia spent about $160,000 on social media ads to supposedly influence the election, adding:

"I spent $160,000 on Facebook every three hours on the campaign.  If you look at the magnitude of what they did and what they accomplished, the ensuing investigations have been way more harmful to our country."

Speaking to reporters at the White House today, President Trump declared:

"We're fighting all the subpoenas.  The subpoenas are ridiculous. . .  I say it's enough.  Get back to infrastructure, get to back to cutting taxes, get back to lowering prescription drug prices."

Voters seem to agree with the president.  Only 31% of voters think the Mueller report justifies additional investigation of Trump by Congress, while 61% say liberals move on.

Left-wing Lunacy

As I noted yesterday, there is a big debate in America today about restoring voting rights to convicted felons.  Some are going so far as to suggest that currently incarcerated felons, including terrorists and rapists, should be able to vote in our elections.  Well, let's think about that for a moment.

America is a narrowly divided country.  Donald Trump won the presidency due to 77,000 votes in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.  Trump won Michigan by fewer than 11,000 votes.  Last year, the state had nearly 40,000 people behind bars.

Do we really want convicted felons, who are likely to be very supportive of left-wing candidates who are soft on crime, deciding our elections?

Here's something else to think about:  The victims of the Boston Marathon bomber were not only denied their right to vote, they were also denied their right to life.  It would make more sense to give the surviving spouses of those victims two votes than to let the bomber vote!

Once again, the sheer lunacy of the left is on full display.  Progressives seem to have more concern for the criminals than their victims, just like they always seem to put illegal immigrants ahead of American citizens.

What Backlash?

The death toll from the Sri Lanka church bombings now stands at 359.  Yet on several early morning news shows today, reporters felt it was really important to let us know that everything possible was being done to reassure the Muslim community in Sri Lanka that it would not be subject to a backlash.

This is not a new phenomenon.  Whenever there is a jihadist attack in the U.S., within 24 hours the media are publishing stories about how uncomfortable Muslims feel

Christians are still burying their dead in Sri Lanka.  I want to see a news story that the Sri Lankan government is reassuring Christians that their churches will be protected this Sunday.  That should come before any assurances to the Muslim community.

By the way, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is well-known for her social media savvy.  She has millions of followers who tune in for her opinions on everything from free health care to why the world will end in 12 years without her Green New Deal.

But there's finally something AOC doesn't have an opinion on:  the slaughter of innocent Christians celebrating Easter.  As British commentator Piers Morgan pointed out:

"Twitter-obsessed @AOC posted 14 times about the terror attack on Muslims in New Zealand, but has posted nothing about the terror attack on Christians by Muslim extremists in Sri Lanka. Very odd."

Her silence is very revealing.

Fighting For Faith, Family & Freedom

White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney addressed the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast yesterday and told his audience something very important in the aftermath of the Sri Lanka bombings.  He said:

"I very rarely talk about my private meetings with the president.  I can assure you that I have been sitting with him in the Oval Office, in the Cabinet Room, with leaders from around the world where he will look at them and say, 'Now, you're not doing enough to take care of the Christians in your country,' or, 'Thank you for helping the Christians in your country.'

"That is heavy stuff, and it strikes me it's probably something that hasn't been articulated in the Oval Office in way too long."

Mulvaney added that President Trump personally inserted the strong pro-life language and bold condemnation of late-term abortion into this year's State of the Union Address.

But it is more than just rhetoric.  As a presidential appointee to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, I can testify to the president's strong commitment to religious liberty.

From executive orders defending religious freedom to cutting taxpayer funds to Planned Parenthood, from appointing conservative judges to his strong support for Israel, the Trump/Pence team has delivered for men and women faith time and time again.
