Obama Lies Again

We are doing something today that is rare for us. We are following Obama's orders. During a speech before a joint session of Congress on health care reform in 2009, Obama said: "If you misrepresent what's in this plan, we will call you out."

Well, Obama has grossly misrepresented what is in Obamacare, and we are calling him out.

The Obama White House is reeling from charges that Obama repeatedly lied to the American people by saying, "If you like your healthcare plan you can keep it. Period." So they have come up with an odd strategy to deal with such an obvious misstatement of fact.

They sent the president out to lie again.

Speaking to 200 supporters of Organizing for Action last night, Obama said this: "Now, if you had one of these plans before the Affordable Care Act came into law and you really liked that plan, what we said was you can keep it if it hasn't changed since the law passed."

Notice how "Period" suddenly turned into "if."

The problem is Obama never said that. Let's roll the tape.

In a column entitled "Lying About Lies," respected political reporter Ron Fournier took Obama to task today. Fournier wrote: "It might not seem possible that President Obama could do more harm to his credibility ů than misleading Americans about health insurance reform. But he can. The president is now misleading the public about his deception."

By the way, Fournier noticed the same thing we noticed: A pronoun change. Obama is infamous for his frequent use of the word "I." But last night he suddenly embraced "We" as in "what we said wasů"

In our internet age, folks may not be able to go online and get insurance at Healthcare.gov. But they can go online and see that Obama clearly lied.

For the president to go out and claim he said something other than what he repeatedly said is breathtaking. Moreover it speaks volumes about Obama's "low information" supporters and what he evidently thinks of them.

Carney Cracks Up

Here's another sign of tension inside Obama's White House. During yesterday's White House press briefing, ABC reporter Jonathan Karl asked White House Press Secretary Jay Carney about another Obamacare lie -- that there are other ways to sign up for Obamacare beyond the website.

The Obamacare hotline and the personal navigators must also use Healthcare.gov, so none of the other ways to enroll work either. The White House had memos acknowledging that "at the end of the day, [all applications] are all stuck in the same queue."

Carney gave it his best spin, but Karl pressed on. In response, Carney wagged his finger at Karl and openly mocked him. It was shockingly unprofessional display from a man who is the public face of the president. You can watch the exchange here.

Perhaps the stress of the past month is taking its toll on Jay Carney. You know things are not going well in liberal land when the White House starts attacking part of its coalition known as Big Media.

More Bad Newsů

In addition to everything else that is causing White House aides to reach for the Maalox, the bad news about Obamacare continues.

  • Medicare recipients are learning that they cannot keep their current doctors. Thousands of doctors who treat Medicare patients are getting fired because Obamacare was partially paid for by cuts to Medicare providers.

  • The Associated Press reports that so far 3.5 million Americans have lost their current health care coverage because of Obamacare.

  • Late-stage cancer survivors are learning that they are among Obamacare's "losers."

  • A new report finds that Obamacare is causing premiums to increase in 41 states, with some states experiencing premium increases greater than 100%.

More From "Double Down"

Here's another fascinating disclosure from the latest book by veteran D.C. reporters Mark Halperin and John Heilemann. Contrary to what many thought, the source of smears against Herman Cain was not Mitt Romney, but Jon Huntsman's campaign.

You may have already forgotten Huntsman. He was the guy who started the 2012 race by running against conservatism. He served as Barack Obama's ambassador to China. As the campaign progressed, Huntsman was reminded that the GOP primary voters were largely conservative and he tried his best to sound conservative.

The media loved Huntsman and just couldn't understand why he wasn't getting traction among conservative voters. Not long after last year's election, I debated Huntsman and former Bush Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez. They were arguing for an amnesty bill. I was against it.

During that debate, Huntsman mocked values voters when he said that the GOP needed to "stop moralizing to people." Not surprisingly, he endorsed same-sex marriage a few weeks later.

All this is a reminder that politics is often not what it seems to be. Voters must be discerning.

BREAKING: Obama Falls Even Further

I told you yesterday that if Obama falls into the 30s, panic would ensue among liberals.

Gallup has just updated its daily poll results and Obama is down to 39%.
