Obama's "Credibility Death Spiral"

The news about Obamacare seems to be going from bad to worse. The good news is that even Obama's liberal media allies are finding it difficult to ignore. Here's a small sample of stories from the past 24 hours:

  • The Washington Post reports that government officials knew the Obamacare site wasn't ready. They tested the site days before the launch, and what happened? "It crashed after a simulation in which just a few hundred people tried to log on simultaneously."

  • The Associated Press writes, "…insider interviews and a review of technical specifications … found a mind-numbingly complex system. …Website builders saw red flags for months."

  • At his White House press conference yesterday, Barack Obama referred frustrated users to the Obamacare phone number. But that wasn't working any better. One man spent nearly five hourson the phone with no luck. Sean Hannity called the Obamacare hotline and the operator admitted that no one has been happy with the process.

Ron Founier of National Journal suggests that the problems with Obamacare are likely worse than the White House is admitting. He offers this stinging indictment: "There are two possible explanations for the Obama administration's unconscionable lack of transparency. Their process is so screwed up that they don't have the data, which would be embarrassing. Or they have the data -- and it's embarrassing."

Fournier is not alone in condemning the administration's lack of transparency. MSNBC commentator Mike Barnicle bluntly stated, "They're lying about it now. They're not depriving us of information, they are outright lying."

And while many experts are worried that Obamacare's myriad of policy faults will create a "death spiral" for the insurance industry, CBS's political director, John Dickerson, warned that the Obama White House faces a more immediate threat. Dickerson said: "It's been far worse than a glitch. It's been a total fiasco …And the problem here is that the administration could get into … a credibility death spiral."

By the way, if you manage to log on to the Healthcare.gov site, more than a dozen other websites will be watching you and collecting more of your personal information.

Obamanomics Isn't Working

Obama's Healthcare.gov website isn't the only thing that is not working. His economic policies are not working either and have left far too many Americans unemployed and underemployed.

The September jobs report was released today -- 148,000 new jobs were created last month. That figure was well below the expectations of most economists. Over the past year, the economy had been creating about 185,000 jobs each month.

Nevertheless, the unemployment rate fell slightly to 7.2%, but only because the number of Americans leaving the labor force increased. In fact, 136,000 Americans quit working last month, nearly as many as those who found new jobs.

A Night To Honor Israel

Thank you for your prayers, my friends! Last evening's Night to Honor Israel event at West Virginia University was a fantastic success. Numerous precautions were taken due to threats from the university's large Muslim Student Association to disrupt my speech, but there were no outbursts or protests.

The event was sponsored by Christians United for Israel, founded by Pastor John Hagee. I'm honored to be a member of CUFI's Executive Board. They are doing tremendous work supporting the American/Israeli alliance. There are many more CUFI events scheduled for 2013. Click here to see if there is an event in your area.

Davion Only Wants A Family

I know the news is often depressing, but here's a story that will warm your heart.

Davion Only, a 15 year-old Florida boy, was born in prison. He never knew his mother. Desperate to find out more about his family, he took his birth certificate to a public library this summer and searched for his mother's name. He found her obituary.

Desperate to change his life, Davion told his caseworker that he wanted a family and he wanted to go to a church to find someone to adopt him. That's interesting. Somehow Davion knew better than to go to a Planned Parenthood center or to knock on the door of Atheists United looking for someone to love him.

Last month Davion stood before the congregation at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in St. Petersburg, Florida. He said, "My name is Davion and I've been in foster care since I was born. . . . I know God hasn't given up on me. So I'm not giving up either. I'll take anyone. Old or young, dad or mom, black, white, purple. I don't care. And I would be really appreciative. The best I could be."

Davion's story was picked up by the local media and it went viral. The response overwhelmed the agency that is currently caring for Davion. ABC News reported that nearly 10,000 people have called or emailed asking to adopt Davion.

Yes, we have problems. But stories like Davion's remind me that America is still filled with a vast reservoir of good and decent people. Be not afraid, my friends. Be bold and courageous in the good fight for faith, family and freedom!
